When clocks change
Zones with a daylight abbreviation move their clocks twice a year, on dates each country sets. The daylight saving calendar lists every change in the coming year.

Abbreviations are not standardised. CST is Central Standard Time in North America (UTC−6) and China Standard Time (UTC+8); IST is India (UTC+5:30), Ireland's summer time (UTC+1) and Israel (UTC+2). When it matters, name the UTC offset or a city instead.
Zones that observe daylight saving time have two names: the standard one in winter (EST, UTC−5) and the daylight one in summer (EDT, UTC−4). People often write the standard name all year, so "9 AM EST" in July usually means 9 AM Eastern Time, which is EDT.
For everyday purposes none: both are UTC+0 and never change for daylight saving. UTC is the modern standard kept by atomic clocks; GMT is the older name, still used in the UK in winter.
