What a scheduling layer is

The internet has layers most people never see. Stripe became the payments layer. Twilio became the communications layer. Nobody writes their own card processing or SMS delivery anymore; they call the layer.

Time coordination never got its layer. Every company, product and public service still rebuilds the same thing: availability, time zones, buffers, reminders, reschedules, the calendar sync that breaks on a Tuesday. Millions of hours a year go into solving a problem that has already been solved.

Cal.com is that layer. One API, one booking engine and one set of rules for time, available to any product and any team that needs people to meet.

Why it matters

Scheduling is not a feature. It is how the world's work gets started:

How we work

Infrastructure-first

We build for the case where scheduling is load-bearing: reliability measured in nines, an API that stays stable, security that passes the audits your customers will run. Simple booking links are the on-ramp; the platform is the destination.

Programmable by design

Every capability we ship for our own booking pages is available to the products built on us. If Cal.com can do it, your product can do it.

Global from day one

Time zones, languages and calendars from every provider are the baseline, not an add-on. The team behind it is fully distributed too, working from wherever the web reaches.

Where this goes

Our mission is to connect a billion people through calendar scheduling by 2031. Not by getting a billion people to visit one website, but by being the layer under the products they already use: the booking button in a CRM, the appointment flow in a health app, the interview scheduler in an ATS, the agent that books on the phone.

Most of that scheduling will happen without anyone seeing our name. That is what infrastructure looks like when it works.
