Talk, and it's typed where your cursor is.
Hold ⌥D in any app, say it and let go. Cal Desktop transcribes on your Mac and pastes the words where you were typing: an email, a Slack reply, a prompt, a commit message.

Any app you can type in.
The text is pasted at your cursor, so dictation works anywhere you can paste. No plugins, no list of supported apps.
Say it messy. Get it clean.
Turn on cleanup and Cal Desktop takes out the ums, applies the corrections you make out loud and adds the punctuation before it pastes. It fixes what you said and never rewrites it.
Cleanup is a setting you turn on. It adds a second or two, needs you signed in, and leaves short phrases as you said them.
A tone for each app.
Formal in Outlook, very casual in Messages. Give each app a tone once, and cleanup writes to match: a greeting and full stops in one, all lowercase in the other.
Tone per app
Apps appear here once you've dictated into them.
Edit by voice.
Select text in any app, hold ⌥E and say what to change: “make this shorter”, “more formal”, “turn this into bullets”. The selection is rewritten where it is. With nothing selected, say what to write, like “a polite decline”.
Or hold ⌥E anywhere on this page.
Your words, spelled right.
Put names, acronyms and jargon in your dictionary, and anything heard as another spelling is corrected. Snippets turn a short phrase into text you'd rather not type twice.
Speak one language, paste another.
Pick the language to paste in and talk in yours. Say it in Polish and the email gets English. Translation runs with cleanup, so it needs you signed in.
Fifty seconds of talking, typed in a quarter of one.
Speech now runs on the Mac's Neural Engine. This is how long transcription takes against how long you spoke, beside our old CPU pipeline and Hex, the open-source app that runs Parakeet on Core ML.

Where your voice goes.
Speech is transcribed on your Mac unless you choose otherwise. This is everything that can leave it, and when.
Parakeet on your Mac
The default engine runs on the Neural Engine and works with no connection.
ElevenLabs, if you pick it
Where it's offered, you can have ElevenLabs transcribe online instead. Your audio goes to them when you do.
Text for cleanup and edits
Cleanup, translation and edit by voice send the transcribed text to Cal.com's API. Apple's on-device model takes over cleanup when the cloud can't answer.
Insights stay counts
Words, speed and streaks are counted on your Mac. Team leaderboards share totals, never what you said.
Your numbers, counted on your Mac.
How fast you speak, how much typing it saved you, which apps you talk into and how many days in a row.
