How daylight saving time changes the difference

Most of the US, Canada, Europe and the UK move their clocks by an hour twice a year, but not on the same dates. The US changes on the second Sunday in March and the first Sunday in November. The UK and the EU change on the last Sunday in March and the last Sunday in October.

Between those dates, New York is 4 hours behind London instead of 5. India, Japan and most of Asia don't use daylight saving time, so their gap with the US moves by an hour twice a year.

Next clock changes: US clocks go back on 1 November 2026. EU and UK clocks go forward on 28 March 2027.
